Oceana Atlântico Hotel

My stay at Oceana Atlântico Hotel in João Pessoa was unforgettable! The hotel, located in front of the sea, offers stunning views and a perfect atmosphere for relaxation. The rooftop is amazing, with a pool and breathtaking panoramic views. Both the main restaurant and the Japanese restaurant serve incredibly delicious food, showcasing local and international flavors. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. If you’re looking for luxury, comfort, and a prime location, this is the perfect choice. I can’t wait to return!

Joao Passeo is a stunning little gem in Brazil and the Oceana was a charming hotel to help experience it. The location could not be better - steps from the beach - the pool area is beautiful with lots of beds and little cabanas, and the service is friendly, efficient and very helpful. In particular the concierge Camila went above and beyond to assist in recommending and getting reservations for meals and advice on where to explore. Highly recommend!

Overall a good value BUT I would not consider this a 4-star hotel…at best 3 or 3.5-star.

Biggest benefit was the relatively close proximity to beaches, shopping, etc.

Rooms were fully furnished with good sized kitchen, oven, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, dishes/plates/cups/pots/pans/utensils, kitchen table and a balcony although our view of the ocean was to the side and mainly of the streets and parking lot.

Room had good AC.

Bathroom was small and older. Shower was hung on a loose metal fixture and bath mat looked old. Toilet was too close to the sink and a weird size for most human bottoms. The toilet bowl cover kept closing down as soon as anyone sat in it. Rather stingy with the towels…we ended up asking the lovely housekeepers for more towels.

There is a gym (as advertised) next door; however, what was NOT advertised is that the gym is only open certain hours (not a 24-hr gym) and hotel guests could only use the gym for certain hours of the day. Gym mandated having own towel and if you did not have enough from hotel they charged for the towel. There is also a dress code specifically no flip flops.

We paid for breakfast which was good but was essentially the same every day and got boring…we ended up skipping it for a few days. Also, it is only for 2 hours (8-10 am) and a few days it was full so you had to wait for a table. My son ended up not even going down and I had to ask permission to bring up food for him since he couldn’t wake up at the specified time. Altogether, I would only recommend paying breakfast as you go and not ahead of time.



I will start by saying the hotel is right off the beach and has a fun pool with a very engaging staff. The mixed drinks at the pool are very weak, so you are better off ordering a cocktail on the rocks with a side of a mixer to make your own drinks. They also have great beach access.

With all that being said, we had nothing but problems while staying here. Our room door had issue after issue and finally we demanded a room change (after three attempts to fix it and having our belonging in a room with a door that could not be locked). We also had reservations for our group at the sushi restaurant at the hotel and it took 2 hrs to get about 4 rolls of sushi. The staff at the restaurant could have cared less and were extremely unhelpful.

For what you are paying for a “5-star” hotel, I would expect a whole lot more. I recommend you look around before booking here.

I came from the United States with my family for my wedding. I stayed in 3 different rooms at the hotel. Each one had an amazing experience. At the hotel there was always someone that could speak English to help us. The hotel has an amazing view and right on the beach. The restaurant and breakfast buffet was amazing! The service at the hotel and restaurant were amazing and can’t wait to go back and vacation there!
